- What is thisgoodsong.com?
- A catalog of artists, their albums and their tracks, with each track rated and each album scored.
- What is the criteria for determining what album's are inlcuded?
- I only do studio albums, no live, no greatest hits, no soundtracks, no compilations. Unless I decide I want to. Really I just do whatever albums I feel like doing.
- How is an album's score worked out?
- Every track gets a rating from 0 to 5: 5 Banger, 4 Great, 3 Good, 2 Won't skip, 1 Filler, 0 Whipped. The ratings make up 85 of the 100 points, in proportion to the album's average: an album of nothing but Bangers earns all 85, all Great earns 68, and each step down is worth 17 less, down to nothing for Whipped. Singability is scored 0 to 5 as well and adds up to 10 more the same way (an album averaging 5 gets them all), and Nonwords adds the last 5, all of them when every track has it and a share of that when only some do. The total is kept between 0 and 100 and rounded.
- What do the numbers around the radial chart mean?
- Each ring is one rating. The label shows how many of the album's tracks have it out of the album's total, and a full ring would mean every track has it.
- Are the ratings objective?
- No. They are one person's opinions, so expect to disagree with some of them.
- Do you use AI for this?
- No. AI is used to assist in this website's development, but not for the rating. All ratings are done by hand, by me.
- What do the line charts show?
- A track's chart shows its weekly position on the US Billboard Hot 100, and an album's chart shows its weekly position on the Billboard 200. Higher on the chart is better, and long gaps between chart runs are cut out so they don't stretch the chart.
- Why can't I find a particular album?
- Albums are listed once their release date has passed, and only artists and albums that have been added to the catalog appear. Search looks through artist, album and track names.
